In fact, nearly 25%, that mean 1 out of every 4 Americans will have a diagnosable mental disorder within their lifetimes, according to Centers For Disease Control And Prevention
I have gathered why so many people suffer from mental health issues. After you read this, you can pass the information to your friend, family member, or even a health or mental health practitioner or mental health counselor. I hope that this article may help reduce the misunderstandings about mental disorders which seem to be so prevalent in our society today.

| Do you have Mental health problems ? |
Stress is a well-known trigger for depression and it can also affect your physical health. So it’s important to identify the causes of stress in your life and try to minimise them.
Any sort of loss, from bereavement, divorce and separation to a child leaving home, causes stress, as do long-term illness and disability. But things such as marriage, moving house, a new job and holidays have quite high stress ratings too.
1. Mental health problems are caused by work.
Stress caused by work is the another biggest occupational health issue. Since there’s still a stigma attached to mental health issues, employees are often reluctant to seek help in case they’re seen as unable to cope.
Many reasons can lead to stress at work. These include:
- Poor relationships with colleagues
- Boss ignore staffs feelings
- Lack of consultation and communication
- Interference with your private, social or family life
- Too much or too little work to do
- worrying about deadlines
- Work that’s too difficult
- Lack of control on work
- Poor working conditions
- Being in the wrong job
- Feeling undervalued
- worry to be lay off by company
When people feel under pressure at work, they tend to work harder and harder to try to close the gap between what they’re achieving and what they think. They should be achieving. They stop taking breaks and enjoy their life.
2) For child’s mental health issue, reason is Parents always busy on working and can’t take care their child
More often than not, both parents are working. Their children are placed into day care and don’t develop the close bonds with their parents than one would have had 50 years ago. This can lead to developmental problems where kids feel that their parents aren’t involved and don’t care. Parents are often overworked and tensions rise, between themselves and the children.

| Why my Mum and Dad don't care me ? |
Parents are sometimes reluctant to let the kids play in the streets because they are scared that something may happen to the child. This basically forces the child to live indoors and amuse themselves with computer games and watching TV. Children don’t have the opportunity to form bonds with others of their own age. This can lead to mental health issues in childen at a later stage because children haven’t learnt how to interact with others. This can lead to depression and feelings of alienation which once again set the stage for mental illness.
3) People like to compare with overs and hope to achieve a higher living standard
We live in a culture where we’re constantly being made aware of the fact there are others who seem to have more, who appear to have better lives, better houses, better relationships and who are more beautiful and successful. there is some good information out there to suggest these issues can significantly impact peoples mood.
4. Difficult family background
Coming from a difficult background where you have experienced neglect, violence, abuse or been overprotected can make people highly insecure and more vulnerable to mental health problems.
5. Biochemistry
Your body chemistry can affect your mind. For example, if you are frightened, it triggers the body’s ‘fight or flight’ response to produce a hormone called adrenalin. If physical activity doesn’t use up all the adrenalin, the body remains tense and the mind stays over-active.

6. Genes
There are genes that cause physical illnesses, so there may be genes that play a role in the development of mental health problems. Research suggests that genes might make certain people more vulnerable to mental health problems than others. For example, if you have a parent with schizophrenia you are more likely to develop it yourself.

7. Drug Intake
Amphetamines, (methamphetamine, ’meth’, ‘ice’, ‘crystal meth’) are powerful stimulant drugs which people use to get ‘high’, stay awake and feel alert. However, they have a big down-side – they can make you jittery and tense, and too much can make users aggressive and moody, sometimes leading to violent behaviour and psychosis (including hallucinations and fear ). People who use amphetamines usually feel down and tired for the following few days.
Symptoms of stress
Some common signs of too much stress include:
- Increased irritability
- Heightened sensitivity to criticism
- Signs of tension, such as nail-biting
- Difficulty getting to sleep and early morning waking
